Set of Gino Sarfatti Arteluce Seguso, Bubble Glass Pendant Lamps

Italy, 1950s

Set of two impressive bubble glass pendants by Gino Sarfatti in very good original condition. The lamps were designed by Gino Sarfatti for Arteluce in collaboration with Archimede Seguso in the 1950s. The Seguso family is producing Murano glass since 1397. These lamps are in original condition, they still have the original lacquer and original brass ceiling plates. They consist of a black lacquered brass house which holds a heavy handcrafted Murano glass globe. The globes were crafted by Archimede Seguso using his ‘Bullicante’ technique. He created air bubbles in multiple layers of glass which reminded him of boiling water. (Bullicante means boiling) The multiple layers of bubbles create a beautiful effect when lit.
