Cini Boeri graduated from Milan Polytechnic in 1951 and, after a longstanding collaboration with Marco Zanuso, began her own professional career in 1963, working in the fields of civil architecture and industrial design.
She has designed single family homes, apartments, exhibition displays, offices, shops both in Italy and abroad, paying particular attention to the functional aspects of the spaces and the psychological relationship between man and his environment. With regard to industrial design she has been particularly involved in design furnishing elements and construction components. A number of products designed by her are featured in museums and international exhibition spaces.
At the beginning of the seventies Cini Boeri revolutionized the furniture market with her sofas ‘Strips’ which becomes one of the most famous products of Arflex. Designed in 1968, it was awarded the prize Compasso d’Oro and it is displayed in several museums in the world. For example: the Triennale in Milan and Tokyo, and in the Moma in New York. The main characteristic of the model is the loose removable quilted cover.
